Research Projects
PROFILE OF AN OSTEOPATH
Kind of research: research on the philosophical aspect in osteopathic medicine.
Study-design: litterature review.
Questions asked: To what expectations an osteopath has to come up? On what conditions can there be talk of an osteopath? Is “osteopathy” really an independent, separate branch within the public health service? What are the limitations of the profession? What is the fundamental difference between an American and a European osteopath?
We have to look for an answer to the following question: What are the requirements an osteopath has to come up to, as a practitioner of the osteopathic medicine, in order to be permitted and to be able to practise this form of medicine in a scientifically responsible way. Then this profile has to be the basis for the building of a profile of curriculum in the osteopathic medicine. Attention surely has to be paid to the specific nature and to the history of development of the osteopathy in Europe, compared with those in America. Project leader(s): Patrick van Dun
A first study being carried out in this project is:
"Exploring an European osteopathic identity: analysis of professional profiles of European osteopathic organizations"
