General objectives

The association intends to awaken all those people, who could get in touch with the osteopathy to the scientific nature of the osteopathy medicine. In due consideration of the individual character of the osteopathic principles, the commission intends to develop and elaborate scientific projects, which finally should result into scientific publications about the osteopathic medicine. The commission wants to extend the scientific education in function of the osteopathic praxis to the professional world by organising postgraduate training courses as well as symposia. Intention is to enable the professional sector to come up with ideas, which should be the basis for new research projects. Finally, the association also plans to promote the osteopathic medicine with all its possibilities and restrictions within the National Health Service in the right way.

  • The commission has in view to tender projects for scientific research in the osteopathic medicine.
  • The commission plans to seek for funds necessary for the implementation of the scientific projects.
  • The commission wants to publish these projects in scientific magazines.
  • The commission purposes to create contacts with specialists in the field.
  • The commission wants to offer advice and give a logistic support within the osteopathic medicine for the purpose of scientific research.
  • The commission intends to assess critically research projects within the osteopathic medicine.
  • The commission has the intention to pass on information about the research projects within the osteopathic medicine.
  • The commission plans to organise postgraduate training courses and symposia.
  • The commission means to promote the osteopathic medicine within the scope of the National Health Services in a proper way.
  • The commission intends to define very precisely the profile of the osteopath D.O. and consequently the profile of the professional osteopathic training as well as the role of the osteopathic medicine within the National Health Services.

Specific objective targets for each target group:

1. The osteopath in professional training

  • The commission intends to achieve awareness regarding the importance of the scientific character of the osteopathic medicine.
  • The commission wants to give practical assistance to the scientific training within the field of the osteopathic professional training.
  • The commission plans to inform the osteopath in professional training about publications with respect to the osteopathic medicine or other scientific publications that might be important for the osteopathy.
  • The commission intends to give trainees the possibility to assist at research projects in function of their individual dissertation.
  • The commission means to support the trainee’s policy actively in cooperation with other organisations being engaged in this field.
  • The commission purposes to exercise an advising role at the setting-up and organisation of an osteopathic praxis.

 

2. The osteopath D.O.

  • The commission intends to organise postgraduate training courses and symposia.
  • The commission purposes to inform the osteopath D.O. about scientific publications in the field of the osteopathic medicine or other scientific publications, which might be important for the osteopathy.
  • The commission wants give advice at the setting-up and organisation of an osteopathic praxis.
  • The commission intends to strive for Quality Management and Quality Extension within the work area by supporting the accreditation.
  • The commission wants to help with the planning and defending of the ethical regulations and vocational education within the scope of the osteopathic medicine.

 

3. Third Parties

  • The commission intends to promote the osteopathic medicine to third parties in a proper manner.
  • The commission plans to support and advice the promotion of the osteopathic medicine given by third parties.
  • The commission wants to translate for third parties the publications about osteopathic medicine.
